| Estate Planning | | | Planning is important for both proper management of small and large Estates. An Estate Plan is used to appoint a person to manage your assets in the event of your death through either a Will or a Trust. The Estate Plan provides for payment of your creditors and orderly distribution of your assets to your heirs. A basic Estate Plan also includes Advance Directives for Health Care which include your end of life medical care decisions as well as a Power of Attorney appointing an Agent to act on your behalf in certain circumstances. Your Estate Plan can also significantly reduce the taxes your heirs would otherwise have to pay upon your death. The current Federal and State of Idaho exemption from Estate Tax is $3.5 million per person. The current State of Oregon exemption from Estate Tax is $1 million dollars.
